Anheuser-Busch and Southern Beverage Company, Inc. Providing Emergency Drinking Water American Red Cross Relief
August 31, 2021 – JACKSON, MISS — Anheuser-Busch and Southern Beverage Company, Inc. are providing emergency drinking water to local communities in Mississippi as they prepare for the expected impacts of Hurricane Ida. The delivery is in response to requests from the American Red Cross to aid communities impacted by the hurricane.
As safety is the foremost and primary concern, Anheuser-Busch and Southern Beverage are closely monitoring the hurricane and taking action to ensure colleagues in the region are safe and prepared.
“Our community is the backbone of what we do at Southern Beverage, and we feel it’s our responsibility to take care of our neighbors during this time of need,” said Theo Costas. “We are here to support those along the Gulf Coast and throughout on the state of Mississippi,” he added.
The canned water arrived on Tuesday, August 31st, at the Southern Beverage headquarters in Richland, where their team members will work with the American Red Cross to distribute the water to those in need.
The water will be sourced from Anheuser-Busch’s brewery in Cartersville, Georgia, which periodically pauses beer production to can drinking water and be ready to help communities in times of disaster.
Anheuser-Busch has a longstanding tradition of providing emergency drinking water and supplies for disaster relief efforts in partnership with the American Red Cross – dating back to 1906. Since 1988, Anheuser-Busch and their wholesaler partners have provided more than 86 million cans of water to U.S. communities affected by natural disasters and other crises nationwide.
